No, while LifeWise is held during the school day, it does not interfere with students’ mandatory courses. The class schedule is set by school personnel in consultation with LifeWise representatives. Classes are held during non-core academic periods, such as during lunch or electives.
LifeWise classes focus on core themes of the Bible, what we refer to as the “main and plain things” of Scripture, with emphasis on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Each lesson reviews a Bible passage as well as a “Living LifeWise” character trait, such as respect, love or kindness.
LifeWise is complementary to before and after-school programs. The primary distinctive feature of LifeWise is that it operates during the school day, thereby engaging with all students whose parents have given permission for them to attend.
Schools which have an active LifeWise program are listed when you click the “Enroll my student” button. If your child’s school is not listed, please sign up for our community interest list to voice support for your school and be notified when new schools are ready to enroll students. Look for the “stay connected” button or fill out the “Contact us” request below.
LifeWise is not a stand-alone school. We coordinate with the local school principal to determine the best time for students to be released from school property. We transport students to and from the LifeWise location where teachers provide character-based Bible lessons and activities. Classes are held during the school day, and do not interfere with children’s mandatory courses or extracurricular activities.
LifeWise offers a structured, “plug-n-play” model which provides communities all the tools to launch and maintain an effective program while limiting administrative duties. The proven model also lends credibility to school administrators, parents, donors and volunteers.
Each LifeWise program is funded by private donations through local fundraising efforts. There is no cost to schools or participating families. Find more info and FAQs about financials at lifewise.org/financials.
