No, while LifeWise is held during the school day, it does not interfere with students’ mandatory courses. The class schedule is set by school personnel in consultation with LifeWise representatives. Classes are held during non-core academic periods, such as during lunch or electives.
LifeWise classes focus on core themes of the Bible, what we refer to as the “main and plain things” of Scripture, with emphasis on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Each lesson reviews a Bible passage as well as a “Living LifeWise” character trait, such as respect, love or kindness.
LifeWise is complementary to before and after-school programs. The primary distinctive feature of LifeWise is that it operates during the school day, thereby engaging with all students whose parents have given permission for them to attend.
Parents consistently tell us that LifeWise gives their child something meaningful to look forward to each week. Students build friendships, learn foundational biblical values, grow in confidence, and are reminded that they are loved by God and created with purpose. In a world where many kids are struggling with anxiety, confusion, and isolation, LifeWise gives students hope, encouragement, positive role models, and biblical truth in a fun and engaging way. Our goal is not simply to teach information, but to help students grow spiritually, relationally, and personally in ways that impact their everyday lives.
LifeWise exists to provide students with a safe, positive, and Bible-centered environment during released time religious instruction. Every volunteer and staff member goes through annual screening and background checks. Our teachers, bus drivers, and staff are FBI and BCI background checked. Students are supervised by three or more adults carefully throughout their travel and classroom time. Our lessons are age-appropriate, engaging, and focused on biblical truth, character, kindness, respect, and the love of Jesus. We work hard to create an environment where students feel welcomed, cared for, and encouraged. We share the lesson each week with parents. Parents always have the opportunity to know what their children are learning and to stay connected with the program by visiting a board meeting, prayer meeting, or team gathering.
